My female laid earlier this week. I was lucky enough to see it happen too as she was whipping up the foam with the fingery things on her ######. The ooth is very pale looking although well formed. This is my first time breeding this species

Should they be pale in colour?

Is room temp OK?

How long will it take to hatch?

Do I need to spray it at all?

Cheers

Goody! it will darken in color as it hardens and ages, room temp is fine, about 6 to 8 weeks and spray every other day with distilled water if you can!

ive got a female laying these, thought i'd give an idea of how they darken with age. and some of her laying.

(from left) 2nd, 1st, 3rd, 4th, 5th (5th was layed just an hour ago)

as you can see they are laid pretty much white, going beige over the next few days and then gradually darker over the next few weeks to a tan brown. im keeping them around 25-30C (just hapens to be that temperature on the upper shlves of my mantis shelf, i dont give the ootheca any specific heating) but i assume room temperature is fine too. im spraying every day as the heat can dry things up quicker than if it was at room temperature. the first one was laid almost four weeks ago.

That's exactly what it looked like when she was laying an also going darker with time. Thanks for the pictures.

Sounds like I'm keeping them OK atm then, cheers!!!!
