I have managed to get a male and a female Giant Malay Katydid. I have no idea what they lay their eggs on or in, so I have set up a large impatiens and a very fleshy peperomia, together with a couple of hibiscus plants. I hope to add some tuberous jungle plants soon.

Any ideas, suggestions, comments gratefully received.

Thanks. Unfortunately, we can't get bramble here due to the heat. I assume you mean as food for the adults?

The katydids are feeding well on flowers, leaves and mango! Strangely, the female eats as many dead and old flowers as she does fresh ones.

I have been told that they may lay their eggs in rotten wood, although I have also been told that they may lay in tubers.

The ones i care for in Houston Museum of Natural Science are being fed romain lettuce and fruits. Both female and male make loud noise! Females deposit eggs in the substrate made of loose/damp soil/compost. Hatchling are really cute!

Sent you email of the contact person who is working in the HMNS. She just told me some eggs hatched out. I need to bring my camera there some day.
