Girls on the prowl! One of my favorite pictures I've snapped, took a bit of patience and planning:

M1110010.jpg

Here are the sizes for comparison: Rhombodera stalii 78 mm; Blepharopsis mendica 77 mm; Heterochaeta sp. 138 mm; Phyllocrania paradoxa 58 mm; Pseudocreobotra wahlbergii 44 mm; Deroplatys desiccata 88 mm

Always love your pics, but you don't post them enough, lol. The wahlbergii must have been saying "what did I do to deserve this?" poor little thing! :lol: .

@ Tammy: I was very cautious, and only had the desiccata and shield on for a few moments. Adult gravid females of these two spp. are absolute monsters.

I'd like to add some comparisons soon of my Hierodula majuscula and this group. I have two presub females, one of my favorite species already.

Nice, man. I didn't realize desiccata got that big. Good to know. Makes them even more interesting.

Ha! And here I thought it was the Ghost that was in trouble! Thar wahlbergii is looking at her with a mighty stare!

I admit, the Blepharopsis are bigger than I thought. Impressive little lady.

@silentdevil: thanks!

@Precarious: D. desiccata is my favorite species, very easy to handle and the strongest I've felt.

@Sporeworld: Yeah P. wahlbergii females are little beasts, I think the ghost would have her work cut out for her. I think this B. mendica is a bit larger than most, they're typically around 6-6.5 cm. For some reason this one is just about the length of my shields!
