Hello forum members. Just wanted to share the news that I got my first job here on campus. I'm working in the entomology department with their vast collection organizing the insects into orders and replacing old, toxic trays with new and improved trays to keep the bad bugs out and the dead bugs fresh. It's very cool seeing the large array of insects and learning how to differentiate them by certain characteristics. So far I've only seen the mantis collection once, and it's far from large, but they still have some interesting species, namely Stagmomantis floridensis and either the texas or arizona unicorns. Anyway, just thought I'd share the good news.

And man, the forms I needed to feel out were ridiculous!

awesome! now you can get your professor to import ultra rare species "legally" for us LOL

Phil: I am so glad to read about your new position in a great department. That is so good for all of us!

Thanks guys! It's a fun job. Not too exciting but I guess I'm getting my feet wet in dealing with all these little guys (although they're all dead). Brian, I have to figure out how they do it. Because I was organizing bugs that were found in Guatemala and North Korea, I have no clue how they got them ,let alone brought them back. And Lunarstorm, there's no habitats, except for a tray. The mantids are long dead, relaxed, spread and pinned in a tray. Thanks again guys for the kind words, it really does mean a lot.
