Big thanks to Becca's help, the owner of mantis place!

First pair bred two months ago, RIP. They mated for 4 days.

Nymphs from first pair, hatched out two days ago. Only got 9, so not a great hatch, but enough for me to keep them going.

Thanks lemmiwinks!

Yep and very happy to have grandbabies, finally. ;)

Thanks ismart! Its extremely exciting to finally hatch this species out. Post some pictures! :)

Update:

I only lost 2 out of the 9 orchid mantis that hatched out. I got exactly 5 males and 5 females, it was a male and female that died. But now they are breeding successfully. So I thought I would take a few pictures. Note: blue flowers are male and pink female.

The pinkest female I have ever owned. I had to take one of her "arms" off because of a miss molt. With a little help from me she eats.

Awesome. I had no luck my last two times with them.

Pink is the color of my true love s hair! lol! they are hard species to raise and breed. They are either egg bound or something all the time. Good wishes to you!

Rick,

I know how you feel. This is the first time I'm having luck with them so far... "knock on wood". If I get nymphs we can trade mantis.

Becca,

I agree they can be a hard species and thats why they are the only species i'm working with at the moment. So that I have enough food to feed them. It seems they cannot go long without food as babies..... I always had so many other species in the past and could not keep up with the food demands. So if I plan to get more species, Im increasing the food supply. Easy said than done. :)

I must have been lucky a few years ago. I had zero issues. Now the last two times the femeles would seem egg bound and would lay little clumps of eggs.
