Very unique coloration on this 5th instar male Wide-Armed Mantis. No digital trickery here. He really is that vivid shade of green and that really is purple on his carapace. He was brick red/brown before last molt, then slowly switched over to brown/green and now green/purple.

Toward the end you can see the muscles in his face working the mandibles.

Interesting coloring. I wonder what it will end up looking like after the final molt. You sure have a variety of species.
Male is now adult and kept the purple. He's the same colors but with wings! Female just molted a few days ago. Both are perfect so should get them bred and have nymphs available before too long.

By the way, the female has a purple patch between the raptors. No idea where these are from or why they have this coloring.
