Yo,
My name is Jinx. I'm a Linux Administrator and a proud new "owner" of 4 mantids. I have always had an obsession for this insect, and used to collect NatGeo magazines, books and pamphlets on them. My grandmother never allowed me to keep them though.
Years go past and I have a 2 year old daughter of my own. She's obsessed with bugs, so we go to the Audubon Insectarium and Butterfly Garden in New Orleans. This sparks up some old childhood memories and I suddenly realize I'm an adult with my own money and home.
So now we own 3 Ghosties and 1 Chinese Mantis. They have been a blast so far, and it's amazing how much personality a little insect can have. They are completely misunderstood and it's fun to teach family and friends about them. The scariest part about them, is making sure their living conditions are right!
I've read tons of online articles and watch lots of videos, but I'm still scared I might mess something up. So far so good though.
If you would like, check out my YouTube channel "Handheld Kaiju". My videos are nearly as good as precarious', but I'm hoping to get the qulity up with more experience and better equipment.
