What to the hairs seen close up on insects like mantises and also the furry coat that can clearly be seen on a june beetle's underside do? Just wondering.

They help to feel if something is underneath or behind them. They may also serve to collect water droplets, but Rhombodera fusca is like the fuzziest mantis ever xD

I can't find any pictures online of Rhombodera fusca's fuzzyness. Can you show me what you are talking about? Thx.

They also help protect against parasites and dirt. For example the hairs on the underside of a junebug prevent soil from caking between the segments and keep mites out.

They are sensors to air and ground vibrations. Some insects and many arachnids (some spiders and scorpions) specialize on these to detect movement.

I don't know if the mantis hairs are as fancy but they should have similar uses
