Well, it's still the 26th here in the States, but in Germany, it is now 270110, the anniversary of Mozart's birth. He was so prolific that it it is hard to come up with one piece to typify his work, but I have always loved Der Holle Rache, one of the Queen of the Night's arias from the Magic Flute and one of the most difficult coloratura soprano arias ever written. Here it is in English. The recording level is a little low, so turn up yr volume to catch the opening notes:
I am very excited that this week I will be getting my 7 string bass viola da gamba to start playing! Now there will be 6000 and 1 viol players in the whole of the world!
