Whats up people! My name is myke, im 29, and im a full time tattoo artist.
I just recently got into the mantid hobby, but im no stranger to exotic pets. I have 1 adult leopard gecko, 1 juvenile leopard gecko, 1 adult crested gecko, 1 juvenile crested gecko, a bearded dragon, 2 male green anoles ( separated of course), 2 female green anoles, 2 male long tailed lizards and a female long tail (not in the same tanks as the anoles), and 2 hatchling whites tree frogs. I also have a 5 gallon hex freshwater planted tank, and a 10 gal freshwater heavily planted....almost too planted. I also breed my own crickets, dubia roaches, mealworms, and culture fruit flies, Hideys and melanogaster.
I never realized i could buy exotic mantids online. A few weeks ago i ordered my first mantis. A ghost mantis, currently at its fourth instar. Shes purrrrty.i got her from mantisplace.com. I think rebecca is her name? I know she is on here. I also previously ordered a giant spanish orange and springtail cleanup crew from the forum founder over at bugsincyberspace.com i tried to culture the springtails but i failed. I also wasnt usng charcoal. The isopods on the other hand r living with my long tail lizards. I hope they r mating because i never see them. Yhey live under the litter. Today peter sent out my l3 spiny flower mantis. Should get here tomorrow. Cant wait!!!!
Anyway nice forum! Great information and a decent community. Im very new to entomology! But im welcoming it with open arms. Im notnew to diy stuff which i have a lot of for my reptiles ( planted tanks with walls, diy drippers, co2 diffusers, foggers, enclosure lids.), and even though i have barely owned my mantid for a few weeks, i already built a pooter ( which i had no idea what it was till i got my mantid), And a berlese funnel. I intend to catch some moths when the time comes with the white sheet/ halogen light method. Any methods to catchng critters that u guys know of r much appreciated. I am obsessed now. People think im crazy when they see me picking up leaf litter at random.
Anyway good to be here, and hai!
