Hey everyone!

I have to admit, I've been a longtime "lurker" of this forum even before I became a member. Realizing that my interests in mantids (and other inverts like phasmids) has grown it would be appropriate to start being an active part of the community.

Thanks to Vlodek I got started with P. wahlbergii, and recently MikhailsDinos and leviatan for their awesome P. spurca, M. binotata, and P. paradoxa!

Before getting into exotic species, I found my first mantis - a S. carolina. Since then I've found an ootheca or two in my area of the state and am currently working on rearing a couple hundred nymphs on my days off of work.
Glad to be here and thank you all for providing a great community where one can feel welcome and learn a lot from the experienced people!

Well, a little more about me: I recently completed my Doctor of Pharmacy, I also have a large monitor lizard, and a really fat african bullfrog...here are some pictures:

My first mantis, S. carolina munching on a green banana roach:

A few of my insects are just too good to me to not be preserved and framed after they die:

Failed breeding attempt with the spiny flower mantids. I'll be trying again with a few different species this summer (P. spurca, P. paradoxa)

Here's my monitor lizard enjoying a nap:

Edit: I need to re size these photos! I'll look into it when I get home tonight.

Hello and welcome to the forum.

Best of luck with the nymphs I've raised several Carolina clutches (?) and it can be a stressful time. If nothing else you can list some for sale on the classifieds section as I know many members are looking for Carolina nymphs (they seem to be hard to come by as breeders overlook the native species).
