Hi,
I've been a member on here for almost 3 months now but I haven't really checked the forum or anything until today.
I am 15 (16 on Sunday) and I live in Croydon (south London), UK.
Mantis-wise, I first started out with wild caught Tenodera spp., Hierodula patellifera and Statilia maculata in Japan then picked up the courage to start breeding them when I was around 5 or 6 years old. I had to move back to England however at the age of 8 when I got into the hobby of cultivating carnivorous plants after joining a US carnivorous plant forum (Flytrapcare, same username)... and at the same time, I got back into mantis breeding again after a member on Flytrapcare told me that there are many insect enthusiasts here in the UK as well.
Other than mantids, I'm into Phasmids and Beetles (mainly Dynastinae and Lucanidae). In terms of experience with mantids, I don't have that much with the more sought after species such as C. rhombicollis and I. diabolica as I'm still in school and do not have the money to acquire the more expensive species that are newly introduced into culture. Other than that, I've been breeding mantids and beetles for about a decade now (minus that small gap when I moved back to England) and you can see my 'growlist' of the species I've bred so far in the link in my signature.
*I RECENTLY started some 'photo-diary' type threads of my mantids on UKMF and I would love to post them here as well but it'll probably rob about 12 hours of my life to copy everything lol... so I'll still update the existing threads on UKMF but will also start a thread on here as well whenever I acquire new mantids.
I'm not sure if links to other websites (especially another mantis forum. :tt2: )are allowed on here so I'm sorry if I'm breaking the rules but I'll post links to the threads below:
Sphodromantis cf. aurea
Sphodromantis viridis
Parasphendale sp. 'Kenya'
Phyllocrania paradoxa
Tenodera sinensis
