Hello, I am new here and relatively new to the hobby. Thought this would be a good place to meet people and ask questions I may have.

A little bit about me is that I am from northern Illinois, and started this hobby with my girlfriend last summer. We both love every minute of raising these little guys and are excited to take on the latest challenge, Idolos!

I started by catching and raising a Chinese mantis, and really enjoyed it. She was a full adult when I caught her, but she enjoyed several months of life and even laid an ooth before she finally died (rather dramatically I might add). Immediately fell in love with mandids and wanted to see what this community was like.

My Idolo's arrived in the mail today and I will post pics of them and the tank later. The seller also included a male P. Wahlbergii that I am excited to raise. First time attempting to breed, so I hope to learn as much as I can from experience people. :)

You came to the right place. Idolos are quite a challenging/rewarding species, there is plenty for you to read on here. Welcome.

Thank you all. :) I will post this elsewhere as well, but There was an issue with the USPS to get these guys here from Ireland and they were in the mail for 2 1/2 weeks all together. Since the monday before thanksgiving.... The female Idolo is happy, healthy and alert. The male on the other hand is missing one leg and another is broken :( I know they'll be ok, but for now we are babying him until he molts at least to get 3 legs working. The wahlbergii is also happy and healthy. He is running all over but is SO TINY! He has a cage that was originally intended to house an adult mantis.... but we figured it gave him plenty of running room. :)

Welcome from greater Philadelphia! New here as well and have learned much, received great info and met some terrif people. At least virtually! My Chinese, Nikki Mantis, is well into in her twilight years; certainly hoping when she goes to the cricket restaurant in the sky, it's not dramatic like your experience!
