just stumbled upon this place looking for an exotic mantid species to care for all i can find locally is the chinese type everyone uses for greenhouses i nearly have an entire zoo in my room, cats, cacti, plants, ants, spiders, crabs and crickets those orchid mantids look cool!

Welcome! I highly recommend ordering captive bred ones online--there are several respected dealers on here (see classifieds and dealer feedback). While I love love my chinese mantids, some of the other species are a bit more hardy. you can order some quite inexpensively with priority shipping--food will cost you more
