My oldest mantis Tank has a leg broken at the joint next to her body. It has been black for some time. A month at least. I put honey on it to stop any infection. Now it is twisted under her and is still movable.

Should I snip it off? She is very elderly and other wise in good shape. She tries to climb but cant get far. I think that is how her leg ended up under her and pointing the wrong way. Any advice would be very appreciated.

I guess I would watch closely and see if she adapts to it, or if it gets in the way before you do something you cant un-do. I thought I read of someone using a toothpick as a splint on here somewhere. worth thinking about?

It just came off! I turned her over to get a better look and it came right off! The joint where it had been is dry now. She's not bleeding so I guess she will be alright.

I read another topic on here about amputating a mantid's leg but it looks like you pretty much did that yourself :)
