If your ghost can eat and move than your mantis is not doom and it can survive with out a leg but the molt ganna be difficult but its possible so when you know its ganna molt keep an eye on him and it I think it will grow some of its leg back but im not sure because it takes a few molt to grow back. By the way your mantis look really nice ;)

I just woke up to a beautiful sight--he was hanging from the top of his habitat with no problem :) I think he will pull through! I'm just worried that there are not enough molts left

She will be fine, it's the back legs that make molting tricky. Just be sure she has a nice rough surface to grip.

Update for those curious-- He is happily eating a cricket just minutes after placing some in their habitat :) thank you all for your reassurance, i'll be sure to post if he recovers his leg at L7 or adult!

Idk about this but dont listen to me cause it can be a bad choice cause if his leg doesnt grow fully and its bother him and gets in the way alot then I would take the leg off but im not sure. :/

I'm not sure if everyone here is using "He" as a default, but it is a female. You can tell by the triangle shaped shield (as opposed to the diamond shaped shield on males)

The leg will regrow. He/she/it will be fine. As long as a mantis can hang upside down on its own without falling, it will be able to molt again and in my experience it doesn't matter which legs are lost. I've had nymphs missing two back legs, missing both right side legs, missing both front legs, and each of them has molted and recovered just fine.

One thing you can do is make sure he can easily climb back up to the top in case he does fall down. I like padding the sides of enclosures with paper towels for handicapped mantises, since it's a little harder for them to keep their grip on plastic with a couple missing legs. Something natural like a stick will make it easier for him to hold on as well. If you have his last molt date noted down, just keep a closer eye on him when his next molt is coming up. A lot of the times you can foretell when your mantis will molt by watching its abdomen. The closer it is to its molt, the slower their abdomen will become empty until it just stays full even if you don't feed. When you know he's going to molt, just make sure he's hanging upside down, or help him up if he's too lethargic because of his upcoming molt.

Hope I made sense, it's getting late x.x

Thanks! She is doing quite well and eating alot. I have them in a net cube so they are fine with climbing. She has been on the side for a while so I might attempt to move her soon.
