According to USPS tracking info my Orchids were shipped to me this Monday and were supposed to come to my house this Thursday. It is Friday now and they still haven't arrived! The latest they will come is tomorrow or Sunday. Will they survive by then? The mantises are L2 and have fruit flies to eat but will it be enough? Please tell me they will be ok? I have been waiting 6 years for the moment I would get rare Orchids! :helpsmilie: :(

They should be fine. People ship them around the world, and some are in packages for a week or longer. Indeed it can arrive tomorrow, or Monday (Unless you get Sunday mail delivery in Illinois).

When/where was the last tracking update? You may try contacting your post office with your tracking number Saturday, as my post office was able to tell me more information than the website had available on some packages when I've had to call.

The last tracking update said it was in Jackson, Mississippi. Contacted my post office they said it was on transit but still! The package hasn't moved since yesterday! Hoping my Orchid babies can make it!

Best to ask the seller. If they were fed and well taken care of before they were shipped they should be fine.

Sometimes the USPS site is delayed (or so I've noticed...) and doesn't update. Chances are its arriving in your city/town tonight.

You'll probably wake up in the morning and check the tracking again, I'd bet by then everything will be updated and your package will be out for delivery. ;)

BTW How should I make the male cooler than the female so it grows slower so I can mate them? And how do I make the humidity ok for them because I have heard that they die if the humidity is too high!

Got my Orchids alive! They are so majestic! So I got a female and a male L2. How often does this species molt and what molt do they get their green or brown necklaces on their thorax?

Yes they can be sexed at L2 mantis man. You have to put them under a microscope and look at their genitalia. If it is a girl it will have a v shape. If it is a boy it will not have a v shape. Its been talked about on the forum before dude.

As far as temperature control, I use this cheap mini greenhouse from Home Depot. I have places a piece of glass on each shelf, and use a Zilla thermostat to control the heat source in the top section (25 watt night heat bulb, and a large under tank heater as the back wall) and maintain around 78-80F there. I use the bottom to raise dubia roaches, but you could set it up as a cooler zone since heat rises.

This is also in my finished basement, so it is generally colder than the rest of the house.

Sorry the photo is sideways, I can't figure out how to adjust that on the forum.

Glad to see they arrive alive and well. Nice conclusion to their trip.
