My remaining two Heteros. I'm hoping they are a pair but I'm not holding my breath.

They love to munch crickets! You'll see they even chomp the cricket's mandibles.

Nasty 'kiss of death' sequence too.

Nice vids! I love the sequence from 0:24 to 0:30 in the second video-looks just like a stick. How long are they as subadults?

Thanks. They are each approx. 5". I'll be posting a molt video where I hold a tape measure up to one. Easily the longest mantids I have.

they must think that they are movie stars with all the videos you take of them.

 Yeah, you and everybody else. They are a rare commodity. I'm pretty sure it's because the females are hardier while males die on the trip here. If we can generate some captive bred ooths we probably won't have this problem next time around.

I've got a hookup with the only adult male on the forum so even if nothing else comes along I should be able to get mine mated.

I hope I can get these Heterochaeta mated! Love these guys...

Those my friend are freaking cool !!!

Love the crazy retro space music. "The Forbidden Planet"?

Did I hear adult male Idolo? who's got the L9 Females???

That damn space music zapped my brain...

Me included! Got a pair of L6 females that are kept at 80F/45% RH and are taking forever to get to subadult. I might have something up my sleeve though regarding a male so we'll see...

As for the Heterochaetas- I'm officially taking a number Precarious (if you'll sell the ooths, that is!).

Let's just hope I get the opportunity to produce any ooths. This breed is notoriously difficult to sex so I have no idea what I have here. I may end up as I did with the Megas (sausage fest) or the Idolos (girls school).

I would love to keep these going in the states and spread them around. Very enjoyable species to keep.
