Hello!

I've never owned a invert before and really want to try it out. But need help deciding what species to choose. I currently own a bunch of reptiles and I'm starting to breed them, so I need something that can stay at room temp, so 21C (Don't know what it is in F) Any help would be greatfull! I'm also reserching a lot!

hello!

maybe try a Chinese mantis or Ghost mantis :)
Thanks for the suggestions! I just looked at the care for Ghost mantis and it says they eat fruit flys and sometimes ckrickets. Is it possible to only feed them ckrickets?

Welcome from Ontario :) young mantids are too small to take much other than fruit flies. at older ages you could feed them just crickets but I don't recommend it because of how crickets are cared for at pet stores.

What do you mean by how crickets are cared for at pet stores. Just curious? Could you feed small ones pin heads? I have about 200 of them at the moment?

Crickets aren't given very good food and typically carrots for moisture. carrots actually make mantids sick. I'f you're going to feed crickets I would suggest housing them and giving them fish flakes for food and the jello water for moisture for a day or two before feeding any to the mantis. yes very small crickets can be used in place of fruit flies.

Do any of you know where to pick up Mantids in Ontario?
I'm in barrie and SilentDevil is in mississauga. I have a few extra mantids I could sell you if you'd like.

That makes sense! I'll have to get more crickets just for a mantis. At the moment I still have to show my mom all the things about them. When I'm ready to get one, I'll be sure to see if you or SilentDevil have any! Could you possibly PM me with prices on the ones you currently have?

So if I cut up a super worm I can feed them with that? I have super worm colonies, so it would be much easier to feed them that!
