I'm not exactly new here, but I thought I should introduce myself! I'm in 5th grade, and have been raising mantids since 2nd grade. I also grow carnivorous plants. (people think I'm crazy, having all these weird hobbies!) So far, I'm very impressed by the forum, and find tons of good info here!

Geez, an old pro in 5th grade! Welcome to the forum. I'd love to see pics of your mantids :)

Welcome. I wonder how different my mantid interests would be if the internet was around when I was a kid.

Hello and welcome! I am a rising sophomore in high school and have been raising mantids since the beginning of 8th grade :)

Hello and welcome to the forum. I recently decided to go back to college and I am a junior. I have been raising mantids since last year.

Hello and welcome! It's nice to see so many young people on here with an interest in insects.

I just graduated high school and will be attending Kent State University in the fall to double major in Biology and Zoology. I have raising raising mantids since 7th or 8th grade and really started to have an interest in them and other bugs and animals starting around the same time as you did!

Oh and don't listen to what other people think or say about your hobbies. If you think they are cool and enjoy them then that's all that matters really...and your parents/gaurdians permission ;) of course!

I look forward to seeing your posts and if you have any questions I would be happy to help and so would everyone else here at mantidforum!

welcome!

i am older (43) and love how helpful everyone on the forum is...its fun getting "advice" from "kids" but love that I am not alone in my facination of these great "bugs"

my sone is 18 and indifferent (but will feed them when I have to be away) and my daughter Hates them with a passion.

My wife who HATES most bugs will actually hold the mantids but does not like the hour or so each day after work I spend feeding and admiring and holding them.

(plus days off where I clean enclosures and start fruit fly cultures and hot glue sticks....etc.)

anyways welcome...post pics!

I only have two mantids at the moment (one has mutated wings, the other will NOT sit still) , so I don't have much pic material.
