Just wanted to say a quick hi. I'm Ashlee, I'm 24, and a student from Texas. I currently have 9 mantids, and my favorite so far is my beautiful little P. picta. I look forward to reading and posting here and continuing to expand my knowledge of these wonderful insects. :)

Hello Ashlee and welcome to the forum.

A interesting species of mantid, the Prohierodula picta, as it isn't a talked about species here in the US. If you don't mind sharing, what makes it your favorite so far? I'm curious as there is little to be found about the species online as well. ;)

It is just an incredibly beautiful species to me! She is a really nice golden brown right now, and I'm really excited to see her wings once she matures. She is not my most friendly by any means, but she's my favorite to photograph. I only have a few not so good cell photos of her right now, and I feel like they don't do her justice. She has been really fun to watch change as well, she started out really green and has gradually become this nice golden color she is today. Also, thanks for the welcome!

That's all that matters then. I was just curious if it was a personality trait/quirk or just her looks. ;) Thanks for sharing a photo too, nice to see your mantid. Her next molt will be to adulthood, her large wing-buds give away the fact she is a sub-adult right now (so you will get a peek at her wings soon). :)
