hi everyone!

I do not own any mantids yet, nor have I ever owned an insect of any kind, in fact. but recently I've begun to feel an insatiable attraction to these little guys.

I want to gather a lot of information before I buy my first (hopefully in a couple of weeks) and I thought this forum would be a good place to start. I don't want to make any mistakes in raising him/her!

about me ... I'm a 16-year-old girl from Georgia, USA. guess I'm pretty young, but I promise I'll be mature & responsible, haha!

nice to meet you all :)

Welcome Lyndsey, there is plenty of information on the forums. Mantises are pretty easy to care for if you can get food and a spray bottle. Lots of helpful people so ask away with questions :)

Wyethia

welcome to the forum.

please feel free to ask any questions and I'm sure you'll find them easy like I did.

(the hard part is dealing with the feeders, but we will help you there too. ;) )

Welcome from Yuma! You are smart to read a lot, but part of the fun is learning from your mistakes.

Example: I made up eight cupfuls of fruit fly food last night and waited until now to put it into pots. The whole area is SWARMING with wild fruitflies, so I'll have so make more for the larger fruit flies Drosophila hydei, that I have coming tomorrow!

good luck!

Welcome. Does your mother know what your considering?

Good luck with your adventure.

@warpdrive: yeah I'm a little worried about those, haha thank you!

@PhilinYuma: oh wow, I'll have to be careful not to accidentally infest the house :)

@patrickfraser: haha! yes, I've prepared her, but my dad is more enthusiastic about it than she is...

thanks for the welcome everyone! wow everybody is so pleasant on this forum :)
