How do you tell if an ooth is hatched?

I got some ooths but this being my first time I'm unsure if they're hatched or not, as two of them appear to be hatched (there seems to be some small hole/tunnel things in the bottom that aren't in one of them); I suspect two are already hatched ooths and one is unhatched as it does not have the before-mentioned "holes" or whatever.

I can't provide pictures, perhaps someone can provide pics for me so I can confirm what I see?

(They are Gambian ooths)

Pic will help. With some the "vents" where the nymphs emerge can appear open if you know what I mean.

Well, like I said I can't provide pics, I don't have a camera.

Although I think the "vents" if you call them do appear open; again it's not a big deal since these were bonus ooths and I didn't pay a dime for them. They might've been included as a novelty, I don't know; since I didn't pay for them I'm not upset.

I'll try to get pics.

Uh, basically the part they hatch out of, one appeared to be brownish on the bottom but now I can start to see inside what Rick called "vents"; is that normal?

All the other ones you can see in the "vents" clearly, they are like holes into the ootheca. Is this normal for this particular species, or does it sound like they're hatched?

Here are some examples of hatched oothecae...

Hmm. I'm thinking that perhaps all of mine were hatched and the brown in the one was just dirt instead of actual mantis-whatever. I'll provide pics to see if anyone can confirm as the Gambian spotted-eye ooths seem a little different from most other ooths.

Color is not a way to tell if it has hatched.

Huh? I was talking about the "crease" area where the mantids hatch out of. I can see in the one I couldn't before now again, it looks like it just filled with dirt instead of whatever; water from misting might have washed some of it out.

I'm wondering if I got all hatched ooths...

It looks very similar to the holes/vents in the ooth pictures...
