This is my first time keeping mantids. I originally bought a couple of egg cases hoping the mantids would take care of the bug population ravaging my garden. I kept ten of them, released the rest of them outside. They're a mixture of 7th/6th instar. One can clearly see wing buds in the older ones. How many molts to go? Thanks.

Don't all mantids with the exception of females like maybe ghost ,molt to L7
Even ghost females moult to L7. Most females moult to L8. Most males moult to L7 with a few sp. that only moult to L6 (orchids).

Does it generally work out,they become adults about the same time,or does the males need to be an adult longer?
