I came up with an interesting technique to keep your mantises fed for whenever your cultures may have little to no adult flies when it's time to feed. I've usually had no problem with having flies available while maintaining two cultures at a time but this year, my cultures would produce adult flies, then have no flies, then another crop of adults before needing to be replaced. So, I needed to feed my L2 Mantis religiosa today and I have no adult flies but lots of larvae! So I came up with a cool technique. With a sauce cup, I place a piece of paper towel in it for substrate, place 5 larvae in it and a mantis then close the lid. I let the mantis go to town on the larvae and then return it to it's enclosure when it's done eating.
