Today (technically yesterday), I went ooth hunting around Sacramento. I found a total of three ooths. The first one was on a branch on a bush and it was really dried up. I think it's already hatched because there seems to be a pattern of holes along the top.

The second one looked dry, but didn't feel as dry as the first one. Nevertheless, I still thought it was dry. I didn't find the pattern of holes along the top like the first one so I'm guess it's not hatched yet.

The third one I found was similar to the first one, but it looks more fresh. It has the holes along the top but it's not nearly as dry as the first one.

Okay, so the second one was on a wooden fence so I did my best to remove the ooth with part of the fence so I would minimize damage to the ooth. In the end, I probably did some damage to both the ooth and the fence. Anyway, that's the news! Any advice would be appreciated too.

Normally if they have the holes along the top and they appear old and dry they likely already hatched. Take the ones you think are good and put them into a container in the same orientation you found them and just wait. Also helps to put something in there like a moist paper towel or some spaghnum moss for a little humidity.
