I made a dumb mistake three days ago. I did not shut the lid on one of my cages all the way. I am usually pretty careful about doing this, but I was very tired and I guess I wasn't paying close enough attention to it. So needless to say, one of my Bud Wing Mantids got out. When I got up in the morning I noticed that the one cage was open about 1/16" and the mantis that was in it was gone. .

I looked everywhere for it for the next two days but could not find him anywhere. When I went to feed my mantids today, there was the skin from a mantid that had molted sitting on top of one of my other cages and low and behold I looked up on my ceiling and guess who was there. I can't believe I found him.

I just thought my bout of dumb luck.

if only i can find my ant thats running around my house

On Sunday, I found a mantis that I lost months ago because I was moving. Needless to say, it had already died. She looks like she got flattened by a box.

My husband bought an ooth years ago on a whim at the nursery ( way before the 100s of inverts now) and well they were everywhere! months later I found one under the lamp hood on the lizard cage happy and healthy which was amazing cause the lizard had been loose in the laundry room for months too  eventually they were both returned home safe....

You Win some you loose some, it is amazing how much the little buggers can eat though better luck next time!

LOL right on! I had an ooth hatch in an unclosed jar in my room. Baby mantids were eeeeverywhere. We found one a week later just chillin in the living room and thats a LONG distance from my room, that little guy traveled!
