that thread is very helpful but it doesnt answer my Q..if a praymantis has laid an infertile ooth can i still mate the female and get her to lay fertile ooth..or is it to late?in other words if u dont mate the female before she lays her 1st ooth is it to late to breed her?i was hoping to get info on the ant mantis tho..but after doing a search i have found some but im not sure about my the ooth thing,,is it to later to mate her?

Yes, you can mate her whenever you want. If you mate her now her future ooths will be fertile. I just figured most people knew this. ;)

Macro, it is not too late i have had female laying infertile ooth in the past and then producing fertile ooth later on too. Breeding ant mantis is not difficult since male usually gets into action fairly soon when put together. The pair usually connected for only about 30 minutes (short period for mantis) but no worry. She will continue to lay another 8-10 oothecae every 10 days so don't feed her too much until you receive your male. Best of luck! I don't carry this species anymore but remember vividly the ant mimcry of the hatchling is pretty cool. you will like it :D

iv been told some news that is making me think i dont even want to do it now..if this is true i will give all the ooths to graham..is it true that i cant feed the nymths frute flys or wingless frute flys..i was told there to big and the ant mantis nymths wont eat them..i was told u need somthing smaller..to much toruble that is for me..the smllest im willing to go is wingless frute flys half the size of frute flys..is this true yen?

The hatchling for black ant mantis feed on D. melanogaster (small fruit flies) alright, infact i don't remember what other food that i used besides fruit flies. Hatchling will go for the food and not skittish, don't worry!
