I wasn't expecting that.

Out pure boredom I decided to take a look inside one of my chinese ooths. I picked up the one that should be hatching soon and pry open the very top layer with my nails.

Inside I'm greeted by a two little wriggling bodies. Everybody else I saw wasn't moving. Now I'm very surprised, so I go to cover 'em back up but one of the little guys thinks it's time to come out and proceedes to wriggle all the out and right into the side of the ooth. The other guy (much smarter) wriggles out onto the outside of the ooth and his sibling (the one that decided to collide with the wall) coming right after him. Now they're hanging out and waiting for that first molt to be done. :)

Though that was pretty cool and all, is it bad that they started hatching? I mean six weeks have come and gone, but I'm worried I triggered a early hatching. This is my first hatching so I'm a tad worried. :(

If everything goes well I'll get some pictures.

I don't know, do you have a baby incubator ready? Nurse someone get the nurse... I have no idea, haven't seen this one in my travels. Whenever I peek they are either still eggs, rotton or dried out!

They'll be fine. Congratulations! Have lots of melanogaster and be prepared, they have a high mortality rate. Do you have a big bug tent? Those Chinese hatch out hundreds, you're gonna flip! I have sad/glad news for you. Spazz has crossed over to the other side, bless his sweet heart. The good news is, I thought that female was going to split, literally. She could hardly breathe and is really getting old. Out of the blue she laid the fattest ooth I've ever seen this morning! I was so relieved for her! She ate three ginormous crix ravenously and she's lamp basking right now. If she only manages this one ooth, I'll send you hatchlings. Spazz did a good job. RIP.

I have the ooth in one of those containers you get at restaurants if you can't finish your food. I was really surprised too. I mean when they came out they weren't in egges, but they looked like they just came out of them. Hopefully they're fine.

 My mom's a nurse.
