That's awesome. Do you plan on sharing your method with us?

By the way, I may need to buy some sometime.

Very nice. I will probably get some in the future.

I heard he was experimenting with milk powder and stuffs. :p

Thank you my friends!

It's pretty much the same as the fruit fly medium I make, just with way more protein. I might start selling the fly medium ready made, really cheap to anybody that is wanting to breed flies. I got most of my ideas from this website: http://www.jangala.co.uk/Curly%20winged%20...e%20webpage.htm

He lives in UK, so I cannot buy the medium he makes and he wont tell whats in it. But, after going through my own tests, I managed to get it right. I use an all vegetable-based recipe as well, This way it does not stink as much.

Let me know? I have thousands of eggs being laid every day and night. The maggots are growing very fast.

Thanks again

Mikhail

;) Yep, I'm using Buttermilk as one of the ingredients in the maggots medium and the flies lay their eggs in milk that is just going off. I give them fresh egg laying medium ever 12 hours.

Hmm so you want my methods...ah? :p

It's really not that hard, you can use anything that is high in protien and use the methods In the website link I gave.

Thanks again

Mikhail

Mikhails, I think you are so amazing. Seems like you can make flies work no matter what. Just wanted to ask, do you use the same food and environment for blue bottles and houseflies?

Those house fly and blue bottle fly pupea are exactly what we need here... but i live in Europe :( And you really can't send them can u?

Thank you my friend, that's a nice complement.!

Yes, I use the same food and environment for both species. Right as I type I have thousands of maggots hatching out, I think I have made a monster.

The only downfall is that the milk that is off produces a smell. But, this is only when the flies lay their eggs at first and then once the maggots start eating the smell is gone. This all happens in 24 hours and is very quick. I'm keeping everything very clean, so that it all stays healthy.

Thanks again

Mikhail

Hi,

If I did send some, it would have to be in the larvae stage, and even then it could be that they dont make the trip alive. I know where you live there are flies, you should find someone that is willing to breed flies? Start by placing some meat outside and then breed them. I know, not many people enjoy breeding flies, but for some reason I do. ;)

Thanks again

i live in the uk so can't order any but just wanted to say congratulations on finding a working method. i always had the impression it was very hard and didn't bother trying as i can get maggots quite cheaply from a fishing shop, but now your success makes me want to try doing it myself! it would be nice to be completely self sufficient in terms of food supply.

Thank you!

It is really rewording to breed your own feeders. So far my method is really working to well and I am overwhelmed with maggots. I have to keep on placing them in bigger containers and buckets. It has not cost me that much to breed the flies and I will have plenty of both species of fly, to anyone needing them. But with anything that you breed, it does come with daily work, thats the only down side.

Thanks again

Mikhail
