So my Popas FINALLY mounted eachother. But the male is trying to mate with her but he keeps sticking his.... in the air, on the side of her abdomen and on the side of the cage. He isnt putting it in the right spot? Is this carzy? Have any of you dealt with this? What should I do?

Well he jsut connected with the female. if he survives when i get hope i will mate thme again after her 3rd or 4th ootheca.

How long do you think it will take for the first ootheca?

That is fairly common. If they were only connected for 30 mins mate them again. Most matings take hours. If you need to leave and he is no longer connected just pull him off and put them together later.

I just put mine in a extra large screen cage with plenty of food like maybe 4 or

5 good size cricks with a dish of crick chow in there too in case they get hungry.

I leave the mating pair in the cage for a few days to a week (depending on how well

they are getting along).

They usually go at it for hours, then they will go their seperate ways for a while, then

reconnect.

They will do that sometimes for days.

I just leave them alone and take them out when they no longer seem interested in each other.
