Hi,I have had an idea about a cage for nymphs of communal mantis(like Gongylus,Phyllocrania, ecc ecc):put all the nymphs that will hatch in a big plastic container(about 40x25x25)with a lot of branch and leaves;the lid of the cage will be cutted and then covered with TNT(tessuto non tessuto in Italian,I don't konw the english term, sorry :) )witch don't permit the escape of the drosophila. Then,in the cage with mantis I will put the Drosophila's container covered with normal mosquito net, witch don't permit to go in of mantis nymphs but at the same time permit the go out of drosophila...I think it is a good idea for the first 2-3 molts because mantis have a continuos source of food(if colonies of droso are too impoverish,I can replace its with other "external"colonies, and poor colonies will be repopulated in 2 weeks) and cannibalism will go out, without daily changes of droso with home escape ecc.ecc...it's a good idea also if for 2-3 days nobody can feed babies...what do you think about my idea?Has anyone already experimented a similar system for mantis nymphs? thanks to everyone

Ps I apologize with you for my horrible English!Sorry!

Some have posted they have tried it, only problem is u still need to mist them and sometimes if too many fruit flies are in the container, you will stress the nymphs and they will start to die off.

Regarding the screen on the FF container. I have had experiences with screens that the FFs could go through, but simply don't bother to very much.

That is, with window screen I found that they could go through it, but the would only do so if they were inclined. Fruit on the other side for example.
