When the girls get anxious at night I let them loose on the ficus. It usually means one of them will be laying an ooth and wants to find a suitable location. Sure enough, next morning there was an ooth.

You get to see a short flight at the beginning of the video. Then they just climb around like monkeys.

Again, amazing!

Do you think they would prefer the leaves as is on the ficus, or less leaves? Do the leaves seem to help or hinder?

I think they'd probably get around easier without the leaves. Dead plants are easier to keep, too. :D I was keeping a big branch on the other side of the room but it wasn't big enough to keep them occupied. They would just use it as a launch pad. They seem pretty satisfied on the ficus though. Maybe because they feel they blend in with the leaves. Although, they do do love to climb on the window (the first ooth was laid there), which is why I have mesh hanging across it.

The first video is really cool at the beginning! I think that's the first time I've seen an Idolo fly. Really funny they laid an ooth on your window!

Did you have any males so at least one of the ooths was fertile?
No males. No fertile ooths. :(

Just 6 dead Idolo ooths.

My first girl laid her 3rd ooth and now she winding down to die. Sad to see something so beautiful loose its ability to get around. She can only sit on the ground. Her legs don't work very well anymore.

Oh well. Happens to every mantis sooner or later. :(
