Hi Everyone, I've already made some posts and bought some mantids, but I guess I should properly introduce myself here.
I'm 18, and have admired mantids for as long as I could remember. I still remember the day when I caught my first mantis(what I know was an adult female Stagomantis Carolina), it was on one of those lawn torches and was about to be burned! I saved it and kept it as a pet, but it was late in the season and it died a few weeks it died. Since then, I've been keeping some of the mantids native to my state(mostly Chinese).
About 3 years ago, I found MantisPlace.com and spent my savings on orchid mantids and a ghost ooth. I wasn't really for those, and they died really soon. That gave me a pretty foul taste for the hobby, and I stopped keeping mantids for a long time.
I'm now in college, majoring in Evolutionary Biology, and have begun keeping mantids again, and reading some books about them. It looks to be a promising area of research, so I might consider doing my dissertation on something with these creatures, but that's a long way away! Now I'm just enjoying how intricate these little guys are, and how easy it is to anthropomorphize them!
Right now I'm keeping Popa Spurca, Stagomantis Carolina, Hierodula Majuscula,(edit Ghosts, and Agent A is sending me some Lobatas(I'm also in the process of buying some more from Rebecca).
Aside from Mantids, I have a strong interest in Biology, and Technology(especially Apple stuff!).
So there's my introduction, and I'm looking forward to getting to know more of you, and more about the hobby in general!
