Soon we go to India.

I wanted to photograph the Indian mantids and possibly bring ooths home.

Where to look mantids in India? Someone from the forum was already there? I would be very grateful for the information. Regards.

I go to India every other year, and when looking for mantids there i would recommend forest areas with lots of shrubbery. However my experience is that if you are staying in a village, just wait for it to rain, as the mantids will literally come indoors to escape the rain. Unless you are seeking to get a large quantity of mantids- say 10+- you would need to go to the forest. Last time I went there I didn't even go to the forest, but due to the rain I was able to find some Hierodula sp., Bark Mantid sp., and Odontomantis sp.. :) Hope this helps.

( If you are going to the forest look out for snakes)

Thank you.

And where exactly do you see yourself?

We're going to South India. Interestingly, a similar forest near Poducherri?

Well, I go to my fathers house to look for mantids as his house is in a village, and right in front of the house there is a small are with lots of shrubbery. However I don't go inside the area as the vegetation is too thick and snakes, scorpions and tarantulas are all to real

dont know if I would try to bring ooths home customs can and will take them if they search you!
