The last one of my T. Sinensis, molted to adult a couple days ago. I didn't see her molt so I don't no exactly what happened, but her eyes were all black and shriveled, or caved in, when I found her. She's still alive but I'm wondering what the odds are that she could survive that kind of trauma. Her eyes have filled out a bit, but still pretty messed up.

They look like they were physically injured. Maybe the eyes got poked or something while still soft?

The right eye looks like what happens when another mantis bites the eye.

Hmm, there weren't any other mantids in with her. I kinda think she might have fallen or, molted to close to the side and got her eyes stuck to the wall or, her front legs legs came loose and there wasn't enough space below her.

Good news is, she seems better today. :) I found her hanging out back up on the mesh covering of her enclosure this morning. So I'll just wait and see how she does.

Here she is in her container.

I'm glad she's looking and acting better today! Usually the abnormal conditions or injuries to the eyes don't affect their overall health much. Hopefully she'll continue to eat and be just fine.

stuck to the wall or floor seems likely. ive seen it happen once - leaves tha mantid pretty disfigured. i hope she recovers! make sure to keep her cage clean to prevent infection :)

The eye damage looks like what happens when they keep bumping there face against something trying to get out. The damange ususally shows up in the next moult. I have had this happen on a few occasions. She should be fine. :)

That seems like an aweful lot of damage for bumping into the container wall... The most I get is like what happened to this little rhombodera nymph

That original pic looks to me like an injury more than anything else.
