Insect Identification help

Ran across these in my yard. Don't know what species of insect. Can anyone identify?

What!?! This one has what looks like a racing number 7 on its back.

Ok. Just kidding. My niece and I found some cicada exoskeletons on a tree in my yard and decided to paint them. Thought they looks neat so I decided to share. It was a fun project. Think we will do it again next year.

Me too! It's kinda funny. I used to stick them to me and walk around and people would be all like, "ewww"

Put one on the door handle of wifes car once. It stuck perfectly and she freaked when she reached and saw it.
