Intentional Amputation

A cruel but necessary question. A mismolt led to a very awkward arm position. The extended arm is impeding the mantids’ ability to walk, Hang or sit aright. The nymph is ‘laying down’ because of the arm and in a continuous struggle to right itself. It is my personal feeling that an amputation can give the mantid the ability to reach its next molt and without one will likely die from stress. Has anyone ever attempted this? Was it a success? Thank you
