Was she just mated recently? It's hard to tell, but it looks like she's ejecting the spermatophore to me.

no its been about 4 weeks now since she was mated I have been waiting for her to lay her ooth. she ate a cricket this morning and her appetite seems to be fine. I just had one gravid female die last week and I am paranoid that something is going to happen to this female. This is the only Mantis I have left right now. I have been making sure she drinks lots of water humidity is good and temp is good.

Not normal is not good. I am really at a loss as to what to do or what I did wrong. Last night I changed her enclosure around she is still eating good and acting normal although her abdomen is getting pretty round. Any sugestions or thoughts on what I can do or what I did incorrectly would be appreciated. I mated her at three weeks after her final molt. She has been healthy and happy. Its cold here in nh. I have been worried about the dry air from our wood stove/furnace. I have been making sure she drinks enough and keeping the humidity up. She is the last mantis I have. I can't believe how attached you get to them.

Definitely keep the humidity up. Do you put a pot of water on top of your wood stove for humidity? I used to do that just for the humans, lol, so maybe it will help with the mantis. I hope she lays for you.

Yes we keep a kettle going on the stove. I have also been keepin a small dish with some sphagnum moss I moisten with warm water twice a day to help in her enclosure also misting the enclosure for her to drink.

I can say she has had a pretty bad attitude the last couple of days lol. She gets defensive at the drop of a hat.

It took Cabo no time at all to lay her first ooth, her sister Cayla laid much slower but when she finally laid an ooth she had no problem after that. I kept her humid, well hydrated and got her out and moving about every day. Fed her small meals and had three different habitats I would rotate her through. It was earlier in the fall so we would also go out and sit on some grass and enjoy the sunlight.

I would say try the fresh grass roots, dirt and all but we are past that here in NH :(

Being a newbie I have about 100 baby T Sinensis since I did not put all ooths in diapause, you are welcome to have some of them free. They would get a good home and we could meet for that coffee lol

That is a good idea. I will let you know. She actually just laid a very tiny ooth today its pretty small she seems like she is pretty tired. I am attaching a pic. She looks allot skinnier now. Hopefully she will start eating again soon. I do the same thing I have three enclosures I switch her around in. I might take you up on a couple babies. I will keep ya posted.
