Hey guys. If yo recall, I posted a topic a couple of months back asking for an opinion on a wild caught M. religiosa that I found. The female laid two ooths then died, ect. Some of you said that do to the fact that she was wild caught, there's a high probability that she mated. So I've been keeping them in the fridge. So I'm just wondering when exactly should I start the incubation period? I'm thinking Aprilish, but seeing as I've been away from the forum for so long, I lost my common sense with simple problems. :p Thanks for future suggestions. :D

My guess would be to start incubating after your last anticipated frost in your area. Should be close enough.

What are you planning on doing with the hatchlings?

I have about a dozen M. religiosa oothecae. Some in the garage and some in the fridge still...and maybe six that have been incubated since December and January.

And welcome back! Haven't seen you around lately.

last frost is good, but u can start them a month before too to give them a head start on living outside that is if u plan to keep them inside at first, but if not, last frost is good.

Thanks guys. And thanks for the welcome Kamakiri. I plan on releasing/giving away, and keeping them. It was the first M. religiosa mantis I've seen in Vegas since 2002. The rest I've seen are I. oratoria, so I just don't want to mess this up (no matter how "common" they may be <_< ). But thanks. I'll have to watch the weather forecast from now on I guess, which is no big deal. Any way, thanks for the replies. :)

Good advice here but these always seem to do poorly so prepare yourself for that.
