Hello,

Those of you whom read my last post on here, it was about me being told by my therapist I should get a hobby, so I went back to mantids. I'm telling you now, it's more addictive than crack... LOL.

Anyways, so I started off with an Orchid ooth (felt like a challange), when next I find myself buying two other equally if not, harder ooths to hatch out; spiny flower, and ghost ooth. Spent £40 on the lot, so I better get these to hatch!

So I read abit up, and if I'm correct (PLEASE correct me if I'm wrong), the Orchids should be at about 23'c (73.4F), the ghosts at 23-25 (73.4F - 77F), and the spiny flower about 25-26 (77F - 78.8F).

To accomplish this, I've gone into the garage, found an old, 3ft vivarium and put in a reptile thermostat through a heat bulb. The hottest end is about 26'c (78.8F) and the coolest about 23'c (73.4F). This was measured accuratly with a digital thermometer, the reason for the wide range, is the hot side also has a heat mat in, which I place a wet face cloth on for humidity.

The containers they're in, are small, cricket containers with part of the lid cut out, and fine mesh glued over for ventalation.

I'm just wondering if all these sound accurate and good? If not, It can easily be changed, I even have an extra viv somewhere if It's needed.

Cheers,

I would keep the ghost, and spiny flower ooths at 85 to 90F and mist once every other day. I have had great hatch rates with both of these species recently using the above temps/mistings. The orchid ooth i'm not sure never hatched one yet, but hope to change that real soon! :p Good luck with all those ooths! :)

Thanks a lot guysm really needed that, I'll move the spiny's over the heat mat, that way we should be at the 85-90 range.

Cheers,

- John -
