I caught a katydid who was laying on the ground, it had a puncture wound under it's eye the size of a toothpick tip, but it's still alive. I gave it some leaves from the trees around it, but I had some questions. Can they eat honey? I know other members use honey for their mantids but I don't know if they are ok for katydids. I also heard you can use nail polish (?) on bugs cuts? anything else I could use to try to help it's cut heal? or is there even a chance of that happening? It doesn't seem like there is much of a chance of him/her surviving, but I'm still going to try.

Katydids will eat both plant and animal matter if you give them a chance and will most likely take honey.

If it's a small puncture wound it's likely already closed itself off. If it's a large puncture, it's probably a fatal wound.
It's most likely already dying if it was lying on the ground and easy to catch.

yeah It lasted a few days fine, didn't get worse or better, so I let it go outside... the next day I found it's body in the same place I left it, with a crab spider having the feast of his life. LOL it was funny seeing that tiny spider eating a bug 20 times the size of himself!
