So, I just fed a nymph which had molted yesterday. Since the abdomen was all thin and such I figured I'd better give him something to fill it or else he will eat a mate. So, since I was negligent in starting my next fly culture in time I am out until the pupae hatch in the cup. So, I chopped up a little mealy and fed it to him. Here's the cool thing, as soon as I put the tweezers within reaching distance he grabbed the mealy chunk and gunked it down!!!! It didn't wiggle or anything since it was only a chunk but I believe since this is not the first time I have done this and he was familiar with "feeding time ritual" he "knew" it had to be food! Unlike earlier when I had put the tweezers down to him to get him off the PlayStation as he tends to wander first chance he gets and he always heads up to the top of the PlayStation. So, when I set the tweezers out just to get him he did not grab at it he just reached up and climbed on! I know what some of you are thinking but all I'm suggesting is that it was kinda cool that he kinda knew it was feeding time and it's not the first time I noticed it. I know that when the food is in motion they hone right in on it and ba-da-bing, they grab it and gunk it! But, if it's chunks or some food that is not moving I have to kind of put it up to their mouths and such. Anyway, just a thought it was cool that he did that and the first time I decided to post it!!!!
