No. Idolomantis diaolica would be called giant devils flower mantis, and B. mendica would be called devils flower mantis. Both these common names are confusing, ridiculous and totally obsurd! ''Devil mantis'' this one is new to me.

You're the devil's disciple, Paul! As you know perfectly well, Idolomantis diabolica is the devil's flower mantis (some German members insist that it should be simply "devil's flower", which might be excellent German but is unacceptable in English). Blepharopsis mendica is best called the thistle mantis. The tiny devil nonsense, if I remember a discussion between Christian and Orin, was a name made up by a European (or was he American?) entrepreneur to better sell his product. But you are right, of course. A wrong common name is as bad as a wrong binomial. Perhaps we need a sticky of common names similar, but more extensive than, that used on our sister British forum.
