I've had a few insects before, but recently I got my first mantis, a wild caught Chinese. I came to this forum and found helpful information, but I have a question regarding molting.

Yesterday she molted for the 3rd time (since I've had her) and now has wings, and she is nearly four inches long. I seem to remember reading somewhere that they develop wings on their final molt. Is that true? She was about 1 1/2 in long when I found her, so I don't know how many times she may have molted before that.

I've enjoyed caring for her and I think this might turn into a hobby for me. :)

If her wings extend the length of her abdomen, assuming she molted properly and her wings inflated, then yes that is her last molt. I can't wait until my Sphodros reach their last molt. No more worrying about decor getting in the way or humidity. You just feed them.
