So, here's the situation. I tried catching butterflies, moths, wasps, etc. For months, but i never could catch enough. So on Wednesday night, we ordered flies. By the time the order was received , it was Thursday, and they don't ship thursday. My male is so hungry that we may just feed him and his wife crickets. I don't really have a choice here because they just sprayed Scourge, a mosquito killer, all over long island to eradicate West Nile. So that eliminates the choice to catch wild food. What should I do??? Should I try crickets on the idolos?

Are you worried they may not take them? Crush the crickets head and using forceps hold the moist part to the mantids mouth. They should take them.

My male took one. I can't go somewhere else because all of long island was sprayed. We're not about to go out of state to catch a few flies.

I agree with crickets are fine IF you destroy them a bit first and feed them the gooey parts, but IDs are really picky, what about using small store bought meal worms? Mine ate them up,and you can break them up as well and stick them into the mouth
