Hello all,

I know this is a very confusing topic, as I have read every post in this section of the forum. What are the laws of exotic mantises in Kentucky? This seems to be very confusing topic, as more of a gray area rather than a law enforced area. If anyone perhaps has some info (or ideas where to look) on owning exotic mantises in KY, please post a reply. Thanks :)

When I started I spent hours and days on trying to figure out the rules or laws on keeping and trading mantids... There are no laws. You might find some snags when it comes to importing. But that's it. for species that are already in trade they are 100% legal and anything that is imported one way or another are legal as soon as they are released from customs. Your state has plant pest rules in play for arthropods and that's it. Just like my state. If they can't attack crops or hurt humans they are of no concern to the government.

I've personally had zero problems here, obtaining any mantis from anywhere. I wouldn't worry about it. The main concerns of the government are valid concerns, but KY is typically a lot more lax on pets of any exotic kind, as a whole, in general. You can have raccoons and squirrels hanging out with you np here, if that suits you.
