Okay, so my second European finally layed yesterday and when I came home I saw the ooth. Very small compared to the first ooth of the other female. So I just leave her be and go about my business. About three hours later, I come in the room and see her laying another ooth at the base of one of the sticks (to a point where the ooth was actually touching the floor). So, fearing the ooth getting stuck, I take the stick (with her actively laying on it) out of the container but she starts to slide away from the ooth and stops "making it". So I just put her and the ooth (turned to where it's in the air) back in the container. So, I decide to take her out before I go to sleep, and she just sits there looking around (not surprising). When I put her back in her container she sits on the side of the glass. And lo and behold when I wake up in the morning, there's a third ooth right on the glass!

Now, what I think is that mantids can actually put laying on hold until they are at a safer place and then continue in the form of a whole new ooth. All three otoths look like small ooths. But I think that when she layed the first part (when I was at school) she didn't have enough room so she had to stop. And the second part, I messed up by sliding her away from the ooth so she stopped. Yet this final part, she was on the glass with no disturbances so she was able to finish up. So what do you guys think? She hasn't layed another ooth yet which is really confirming my suspicions. Hopefully all of them will still hatch too.

Same one. She got disturbed too much.

That's technically the same ooth. Last year I had a european get disturbed by too many crix while I was away on vacation. I think there were 4 partial pieces that I found.

Honestly you should never mess with a mantid when its having a ooth when it gets hard you will be able to take it off no matter where it lays from my experiences...You could of made it egg bound but looks like she just had another, just becareful next time and the best of luck to your mantid and the ooths =]

What do you mean "made egg bound"?
