My L2 giant shield mantid will not eat. I think it's because of his limp right claw. I have tried skewering a fruit fly on a needle and feeding him but its not working(no interest). I think there might be something wrong with him from a bad first molt because when he/she walks it limps weird (he arrived this way). I am afraid it is dying because it is becoming more lethargic and it "lays" its head down sometimes. Normal or is there something wrong?

yes i put it in its enclosure and misted it, the humidity is 60% now. Hoping its not eating preparing for a molt but no luck.

He caught a fruit fly with his left "claw" but I'm not sure if he's not strong enough because of what ever is wrong with him or what but he just let it go and laid his head down. So I tried to do use the needle/tooth pick technique and he didn't want it. he drank a little after i misted but thats all. Oh and Hibiscusmile the ghost i got from you is thriving, he's eating like a pig! :D

What you do to your ailing mantis will make no difference to it, but for the sake of yr own need to do the "right thing", you may want to kill the poor thing rather than watching it die inch by inch. It's always a sad decision, but it comes up a lot in this hobby.

I have considered that but its hard to do. I think I will after i take some nice pictures to remember him :)

Well it looks like i don't have to freeze him. I went to go get him for pictures and he passed away on his own. :( At least he has his wings now  I think i'll try Idolo or orchids next, although they are expensive :/ But i think they are beautiful so it looks like an idolo will do. i hope i have more luck with this one then the last one
