I have a pair of Sphodromantis sp. Blue Flash mantids that I plan to mate. My problem is that when I got them the male was already sub-adult and the female seems to be two molts behind him. The male molted to adult two days ago and is now a beautiful blue-gray color. I placed him in my air conditioned bed room where the temp stays between 70-75F and have the female in my dinning room near a window where its 80-85F. I plan on feeding the male a couple wild caught moths every few days and am giving the female all the moths she will eat. (This morning she ate a hawk moth bigger than she was and then ate another smaller moth!!!) How long will this male live and do you think with these changes I will be able to get the female caught up before he dies? Is there anything else I might be able to do?

You have plenty of time.Even if the male is older, they can live more than 5 months as adults.

I had a Sphrodromantis ooth hatched last year in early june.My last male just got eaten a few days ago,but he was still in a good shape.

My blue flash female just molted to adult a couple weeks behind the male. Wow, are they pretty!!!

Good luck with yours!
